Public Square Mission Statement

Attention citizens, this is a call for action!
Our democratic discourse is being usurped. Now is the time to reclaim what is rightfully ours. An insidious power threatens the rights and liberties that are the hallmark of our free society. In the face of this provocation we are increasingly reminded of how fragile our democratic institutions are. It is our duty as citizens to respond. We can longer afford to hesitate.

The Public Square is an interactive forum for the free discussion of ideas. It is an arena for the presentation of opinions or insight and a place for all citizens to have their voice heard on any issue you want to discuss.

It is an academic journal, a blog, and a theatre for debate. Its contributors are anyone who wishes to be involved in the conversation. There are no restrictions on who can share their ideas, only a few guidelines on what you can share.

We are seeking open contributions from interested citizens and we welcome all topics and all political slants. If your opinion is rooted in hatred, bigotry or discrimination, you are not welcome. Most importantly, we will refuse contributions that are not clearly substantiated by reasonable evidence. The worst offence to the idea of enlightenment is the distortion of facts, or the use of misinformation for any particular end. Sophistry will not be tolerated.

We are in defence of the common wealth of all citizens. We believe that educated discourse in a public forum is the most effective weapon we have against the enemies of reason. Our targets are those who wish to manipulate our public good to the satisfaction of their exclusive, selfish, and deceitful interests. The pen is our weapon. It is through our numbers that we can unleash the potential of our citizenry!

Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty. Are you up for the challenge?

The Public Square, PSQR

Do you have something to say? Contributions are eagerly accepted and encouraged. Articles should be between 800-1200 words and referenced properly for all facts and the ideas of others.
